The self-ligating bracket used in the Damon System for the straightening of teeth

The bracket in real life is about the size of  a 10 font "E" and at present is made of stainless steel not clear plastic with a white window as shown. In this diagram you see the the window covering the slot into which the arch wire is inserted.

In the illustration below the window is open and the bracket slot is ready to receive the "super-elastic" arch wire.

In the illustration below the super-elastic arch wire is placed in the slot.

The wire is now attached by sliding the window closed over it.
