            PATIENT NAME  has entered a program called “Orthodontic Jaw wiring for weight loss” (OJW), whose main goal is to help patients retake control of eating habits that have spiraled out of their control and have resulted in a grave threat to their health. 
    As a result of having their jaws wired together jaw wired patients are limited to a low calorie/salt liquid diet. A more obvious result is that they must talk with their teeth together which to some extent makes them less articulate and less audible.  Over a period of 10 days to 3 weeks they will begin to realize that they must make renewed efforts to speak clearly  if they are to have their friends and colleagues at work understand them. 
    Patients who undertake this technique will no doubt meet with people who care and understand as well as those who may mock, or be scornful and wonder why they needed to do undertake a procedure that seems so drastic.  The next step that FIRST NAME could have taken is to have major “bariatric” surgery in which the stomach and/or intestines are reduced in size.
