There’s a new technique for shedding
weight caused by compulsive over-eating, developed by a local orthodontist
in Brooklyn Heights who has a PhD in facial anthropology. It’s called
Orthodontic Jaw Wiring, OJW.
Dr. Rothstein has adapted the
procedure formerly a method to treat broken
jaws, in a kinder and gentler
form by utilizing his braces as the attachments to limit the apartness the
jaws can open. In effect you cannot eat solid food; consequently you lose
weight.
Rothstein’s method allows you to
speak and move your jaw almost normally in most cases, all the while
shedding about 2-2.5 pounds each week. Best of all, it’s inexpensive and
safe when compared to gastric bypass surgery. People are turning to it to
fend off that spiraling feeling of uncontrolled weight gain, the kind that
leads you to the office of the gastric bypass surgeon whose mortality rate

under the losses suffered by the cost of expensive surgery. Rothstein
thinks OJW can play a role in the panoply of more aggressive weight-loss
short of surgery. According to the inventor of OJW, what was missing was a method
of providing the service safely. Doctors call that a “protocol”. Up to now
the jaw wiring approach was applied helter-skelter however, now that a
methodology for dental health professionals has been developed, the
