To Staff, film director, technical assistants, would-be advisors and would-be OJW patients:
Today I submitted an application to BRIC/BCAT to air a BCAT "Special" show (TWC: 34, 35, 36 / Cablevision: 67,68, 69), around September 22nd or June 20th, whichever comes first.
The details are as follows:
Shooting will take place at the office on 35 Remsen St. on May 1, 2008
for a 56-minute film entitled:
The Development and Application of Orthodontic Jaw Wiring (OJW).
It will be documentary on a weight-control method and device for the control of compulsive overeating.
The goals of the film are to inform members of the dental field and lay persons that OJW is a treatment modality that has potential for some eligible candidates who are overweight/obese, and ultimately to have major insurance companies recognize and offer coverage for this procedure.
The patients who consented to be filmed are Ray Scott McDowell, a 50 year-old Texan and Erica Smith, a speech-pathologist and small business owner from Connecticut. They have been asked to take some video footage of themselves at "work" and "play" for the film.
The filming will take place in real-time between 1:00 and 4:00 pm.
The story board will be built on: The photo-documentary protocol for dental professionals to provide OJW (6/14/07)
As a result of achieving "Studio Production" certification at BCAT I will have access to BCAT's lighting equipment, Sony DSR-PDX10 Camcorder (miniDV film format) and microphone equipment for 24 hours, as well as access to their editing suites for a limited number of hours to edit the footage that we will take.
With good planning and keen foresight we will be successful. The longest journey always begins with the first step...planning ahead.
I invite your lively participation and constructive criticism.
Cordially, Dr. Ted
