[ On May 16, 2009 I received an email from Aidan in which he acknowledged and apologized for behavior resulting in great distress to me as described above. He offered no explanation for his action and  I believe he himself was at a loss to explain this irrational act. No one is immune from an irrational moment. Consequently, I have accepted his apology and offer my own to him for some expressions of ill-will I have written about him on these pages. It behooves us all to appreciate the magic of two simple words  "I'm sorry".]

Dr. Ted Rothstein Vs Aidan Doyle:   Preparation for People's Court:
Peoples Court paid Dr. Rothstein $260, no award was made for pain and suffering

Your Honor:

Some of what you will hear me relate may seem to have a bit of humor attached to it, but I am here only because this case is deadly serious as you will soon see  without any humor what so ever attached.

Monetary compensation for the pain and suffering I have had to endure cannot be calculated so I have asked only for a symbolic award for it ($365).

This court serves me with an opportunity to expose Mr. Doyle as the sociopath I believe you will find that he is.

I have here in my hand documents and other major evidence to support the events I am going to relate regarding this case.

All the events of this case took place between March 10 and October 1st when I wrote this true story *** about Mr. Doyle and posted it on my web site D R T E D. C OM with Mr. Doyle's tacit permission.

At the outset of the story I indicated that Mr. Doyle was a deranged mental case and others should be aware of him lest they suffer as I have.

Shortly after posting the article I filed an action in Small Claims Court and agreed to present my case here in this court.

I  CHARGE MR. DOYLE  WITH:

1. Failure to repay a small amount of money he borrowed ($10)

2. Betray of the trust I placed in him to carry out an action of great importance he assured me he could and would do and ultimately lied about doing.

Along with:

His intentional mutilation of personal property that was done with such malice that I can only attribute it to Mr. Doyle  being either a retard, a rogue or a sociopath.

and finally

for the pain and suffering I have endured every day since early in August when he borrowed  and destroyed my shoes and the struggle to get him to reimburse me.

Regarding Compensation for pain and suffering I would like to say:

No  event in my life has been as malicious as the act committed by Mr. Doyle

It has resonated in my head almost every day since he perpetrated it.

I have had to be distracted with multiple irritating email contacts with him.

I have had to take many hours to write an article about him and taken  timeout of my practice to prepare for this hearing.

Worse yet is that I have had and will have  to cross his path multiple times at  the Brooklyn television station. The award for pains and suffering I ask is $5000.

However my claim is for a total of $500 which would make the that part of the award for pain and suffering $365.. I would regard that award as a symbolic of the courts understanding of what I have endured due to Mr. Doyle's actions.

NOW…..Some will need to know what a sociopath is: So I will read to you the definition***

[SOCIOPATHIC: Of or relating to, or characterized by asocial or antisocial behavior or exhibiting antisocial personality disorder].

An excellent book on the subject is The Sociopath Next Door by Martha Stout

Events of the case:

Mr. Doyle and I were fellow students at the Brooklyn Community Access television station learning the art of TV film production.

He told me he worked on Wall St. "running" a hedge fund and doing business in the currency exchange field:

One day he asked to borrow $5.00 and returned it a few weeks later at my request.

On another occasion asked for another $5.00 and when he requested $10, and  when I refused he called me a PIKER.

I had just produced a film which aired on Brooklyn television.  One day after taking him to lunch he said he would submit my film to the New York television station. I believed him and gave him the original tape of my documentary film.

Shortly after that he again asked me to lend him $10. Which I did.

A few weeks later he stopped by office quite unexpectedly and asked if he could borrow a pair of dress shoes because he had left his behind in the taxi cab.

Unhesitatingly I agreed since I had change into my dress slippers.

***HERE IS WHAT HE RETURNED TO ME ONE WEEK LATER.****

***Please let me explain what I am showing you here: I found a pair of old shoes and then removed the hells and soles from just one of them. It took me more than one hour to tear off the heels and soles of the shell I am showing you.

Mr. Doyle returned with the shells of both my shoes...he had decimated both my shoes.  Not a word of I'm sorry was spoken nor the words I'll be happy to repay you for them.

"They fell apart" he said, and left the office with both shells in his possession.

The next day I called the New York television office  to discover that he had not submitted my film. When I confronted him with this info he said he submitted it under a different name.

I called the New York TV station and they confirmed that he had never submitted my film.

Only when I threatened to expose him at the Brooklyn TV station did  he return my film which I then submitted myself.

I decided to write the story of my experiences with Mr. Doyle and indeed wrote it and sent it to him to verify if any part of it was inaccurate  He never responded. Here is the article I published on my web site. Every word is the truth.

Shortly after I decided to sue him in small claims court and agree to present the case in Peoples Court, even at the risk of possible self-ridicule.  I don't suffer bullies and tyrants so I stand up for my beliefs.

Analogy:   Judge Milian:

Imagine you move into a new community and join the local book club where you meet Ada Dale with a similar interest. She tells you she is a lawyer in the next town and moreover that she lives just across the street from you.

One day at the book club she asks to borrow $5 dollar and neglects to pay you until you have to ask her for it three weeks later.

A short time later she asks you for $5.00 and then $5.00 more. and when you give her only the $5.00 she calls you a piker.

Shortly after that you tell her about a poem you are submitting for a competition and Ms. Dale says  "I would be happy to submit it for you I'm going to submit a poem also and I'm going to submissions office...so you give her you poem to submit.

Shortly after she asks you for $10. You give it to her... after all she is doing you a big favor.

Shortly after that what a surprise she shows up at your house asking to borrow your bicycle...hers is broken.

Do you say no? Of course not you say here take mine I'm not using it.

A week later she returns your bicycle, but something is amiss...the wheels are missing. 

There is no I'm sorry I'll pay for them...instead she says “they fell off and I threw them away”  and walks out the door.

Next you discover ADA has not submitted your poem and when you ask  Ada she lies that she has. You confirm your suspicions by calling the submissions office.

You ask Ms. Dale for the poem back and she refuses until you threaten to expose her at the book club at which point she returns your poem allowing you to submit it just before the deadline.

You threaten to expose her doings and write your story about her misdeeds. Of course you send it to her to make sure it is accurate. She responds by writing she is busy and will get back to you tomorrow.  She never does.

You give up and decide to sue Ms. Dale for property damage and pain and suffering.
